Today I was made aware of a new (to me) form of spam: User Registration Spam.
I’ve now installed a plugin to handle new account verification. Any problems, please let me know.

I admit, it needs work. That needs time. I don’t have that yet but it will improve 😉
My mind drifted into science and science fiction today, as it does, and I thought, “What science fiction technology is likely to be completely impossible?”
Here’s my list:
I could add to this with things like light sabres, but they’re more science fantasy than science fiction. I can discuss my reasons why I think the above will prove impossible, and I’m willing (hoping in many cases) to be proven wrong. I’ll also give my opinions on any other technology you can think of.

One is a record of the first ever, documented hack of both ADA and JARVIS weapons, and the other is one hell of a drift I experienced in the early days.
The spam checker seems to be working well so far. 11 out of 11 spam comments caught since I enabled comments. I’m happy with that so public comments are looking promising 🙂
As a break from the norm, and the start of a new process, I’m now posting my cycling videos here, first and foremost. Something I really should have done from the start 😉

Given the imminent demise of Google+, the lack of trust I have in Faecebook and my doubts of any social media platform managing to stay alive I’ve decided to pay more attention my this, my blog.
I have full control over this so no bugger can take it away from me. It does use WordPress, but it’s not on the WordPress site, it’s installed on my personal server.
I’m not withdrawing from any of the Social Media platforms I currently use and won’t really be using them less, but anything I want to keep will go here, and linked from each platform.
I’m hoping to export my Google+ stream to this blog. It won’t be free but there’s a way to do it that I’ve tested and it works. I do have a lot of posts though. I need to know they’ll categorise properly! 😂

Update: I’ve configured a new anti-spam plugin and enabled public comments. Let’s see how this goes. New accounts are still welcome.
As an aside, MeWe is looking to be the best non-Faecebook alternative at the moment. No public posts there yet, but that’s apparently in testing. No idea if that will fold at some time in the future though, thus my rekindled interest in this 😉
There’s another upcoming social media platform called Solid and involves Tim Berners-Lee, but that seems highly technical so probably won’t be ideal, so blog it is!
Christmas is coming, driving’s getting shit (and so’s the weather).
Just a little update. I added code to the music routine that allows for multiple songs and replaced the squealing sound effect for increased difficulty with a short tune that Fatboy Slim fans will have no trouble recognising.
