Disney and the Great Euro Ripoff?

I was walking around the Disney Store with my family yesterday and noticed a few “interesting” prices.

Bag

Now with an approximate conversion rate of £1 to €1.50 that should really be closer to €18.00, but it doesn’t stop there:

Dress

Same price in Sterling but €6 more, and then:

Other

This item is £2 more than the previous 2 but €4 more than the first and €2 less than the second! Each one is far more than the current exchange rate.

Now I don’t know about you but this pricing makes me confident that this country is absolutely right to keep Sterling as our currency. If everyone else followed the same example we’d end up being severely ripped off… more so than we appear to be already.

Meet Rose and Martha

Rose and Martha

Meet the latest additions to the Cavy Clan; Rose is topmost. From the names some of you might guess my daughter is a Doctor Who fan 😉

We’ve spent half the day so far just introducing them on neutral ground and at the third attempt I think Nibbles is finally coming to terms with new company. No threatening gestures and currently all is quiet 🙂

R.I.P. Munchkin :-((

She was fine this morning. I noticed her looking listless in her hutch this afternoon, got her out and I could tell she wasn’t well. She felt too cold for my liking. She wouldn’t eat a carrot, and she’ll normally jump fences for those, then she started opening her mouth. She couldn’t breathe and nothing I tried helped. She died in my arms.

The cavies are my favourites so this one hurt more than any other pet loss for me 🙁

SEP Syndrome

This is something that I’ve often noticed but even more so since the recent restrictions on smoking in Wales.

It’s an ailment suffered by smokers (and more so those around them) whereby when they’ve finished their smoke they throw the smouldering butt on the floor making it Someone Else’s Problem!

It’s also apparent when opening a new pack (the cellophane wrapping goes on the floor) or on starting the last of a pack (the box goes on the floor).

It really does make me wonder if they do the same thing in their own homes. Perhaps not, because then it’d be their own problem 🙁

Now I’m a non-smoker but even though I hate the habit I don’t make a song and dance about it, as those who know me know well, but this is really inexcusable. I’m sure even smokers must agree with that. It’s just a thoughtless act from selfish people.

Trauma Clinic #5

Thursday I went for another appointment. 10.30 was my appointment, 10.50 I went for X-rays, 11.10 I was called in!

The break is finally healed. Due to the pain I’m still getting I’ve been referred to physiotherapy and got to go back in for another appointment in three months.

R.I.P. Thumper :-(

He’s had cold symptoms for about a week but today I went out the garden to get him back into his hutch and he was lying stiff by the dog’s kennel 🙁
We still have Misty but if anything happens to her I’m not going to get any more rabbits. I just have no idea why they die so young (about 4 years) 🙁

Say hello to Fudge

Fudge

To stop the tears from Biscuit’s departure we bought a youngster, who now goes by the name of Fudge. He seems to have a special ability, I’ve never seen a hamster jump so far!

R.I.P. Biscuit

Yesterday, with a heavy heart, we decided to take Biscuit to the vet because she was very lethargic and had swellings in her pouch and abdomen, and was losing hair. Vet told us it was Cushing’s disease, for which there’s no treatment so we had her put to rest to save her from suffering any more. She was a good age for a hamster though, we’ve had her almost 2 years and she wasn’t a baby when get got her.

Snow

What is it about snow that gives kids today the impression that it’s perfectly okay to assault complete strangers in the street?

All the schools are closed so where are they all? Lying in ambush on every bastard street corner!
