Trauma Clinic – Take 2

Appointment time was 10.50, arrived at 10.30, called at 12.40, seen at 13.00. The consultant examined me and instructed me on some light, low physiotherapy I have to do three times a day (pendulum like actions) and that was it. One fresh sling and another appointment in three weeks and we were out at 13.10.
I’ll see my G.P. tomorrow for some more painkillers and another sick note. I wonder if I’ll be back at work before Christmas :-/

I know the problem. I broke my clavicle on 7th November. The pain does ease after a week, though I still can’t get used to sleeping on my back! Mine was a stress fracture through gym work and I can only blame myself. I think if your work is non-manual you can return after 2 – 3 weeks. Though my work is non-manual I do 3-4 hours driving a day so I don’t know where that leaves me.
I’m afraid you’re still in the “Agony” stage where you can’t get in bed, out of bed, dress and wash stage. Painfull ain’t it.

It’s a double break following a road accident on the 21st of October. Though the pain is still bad it is subsiding and I’m down to 3 doses of co-codamol per day. As for work, I drive trains and on all units the brake controller is on the left. On the 175 class it’s a combined power, brake controller on the left. Also, I often have to climb onto a train from track bed level which involves lifting myself using both hands above head level, a task not yet possible 🙁
Look back over the last few ariticles, you’ll see photos and more detail on the accident itself.
Thanks for your concern and I hope yours improves soon too. I’m still sleeping on my back, you do get used to it.
