I’ve thought about it and decided what I’ve posted on G+ in the last 5 years contains some good memories, but they’re not worth the cost of backup and import, so when G+ dies, so do those posts.
I’ve learned from the experience though, and I’m now fully committed (not that way though maybe I should be 😉 ) to posting everything I want to keep (and even stuff that’s just bollocks) on here. Here’s to a positive future 🙂
Going through a similar process myself. I hate throwing away stuff – but most of my g+ is reposts / shares or nowt of consequence. Not worth paying and going through the process of pushing it to my vps – then paying again (charged for size of backup)
I’m with OVH. Fixed size server, just over £8/month. Not sure if that package exists any more and they occasionally nag me to “upgrade” but it does the job so I’m happy with it.
I’m with Digital Ocean – absolutely brilliant – https://m.do.co/c/fbe575487720 – that link will get you $100 credit to use for 60 days to try them out – im running their smallest “droplet” 1GB memory with 25GB SSD disk for $5 then $1 a month for backup. Great stuff!
(disclosure – if you spend $25 real money with them I will get $25 credit! – but i would still be that positive about them without that!!)
I’m sticking with what I have. The IP address is fixed and not on any mail blacklist. IPv6 compatible too.
4GB RAM, 50GB space. Using just over 3GB and 13GB respectively.
